Nomenclature of Chameleon® Products

The Chameleon® is a trademarked name. It is trademarked by Michael and Bart Bellon®.

The Chameleon® blends in with the environment: visually, functionally, legally and politically.

Picture yourself walking with you dog that is wearing a Chameleon® product.  The dog may be wearing:

  1. a Chameleon® II (with or without electricity)
  2. a Chameleon® Extender (vibration collar, stimulation collars, tone collars, etc…)
  3. a Chameleon® Pinch collar
  4. a Chameleon® Pull collar

A Chameleon® refers to the art of ADAPTING.

We are going to elucidate the Chameleon® Product Line nomenclature.

The Chameleon® I

The Chameleon® I is an E-collar receiver that is hidden under the normal collar.  The Chameleon® I is not produced anymore.  The Chameleon® I is compatible with the following Martin System transmitters: TT100, TT200, TT400, TT1000, PT3000, PT3004. It is also compatible with Michael and Bart Bellon®’s Chameleon® Tactical Transmitter (CTT®) that will be released in September 2017 and the Chameleon® Tactical Transmitter Bi-Directional that will be released in March of 2018.

The Chameleon® II

The Chameleon® II double contact has four islands, each of which can have up to 3 traditional contact points or one Chameleon® Feather Contact. The The Chameleon® II double contact is 35 cm in length. For smaller dogs there is the Chameleon® II single contact with two islands, each of which can have up to 3 traditional contact points or one Chameleon® Feather Contact. The Chameleon® II single contact is 28 cm in length. The Chameleon® II is normally made in black, but can be delivered in transparent. In the transparent color, the collar looks a bit like camouflage.

The Chameleon® II is a Michael and Bart Bellon® owned design and mechanical patent.  The Chameleon® patent is a design; it is a mechanical and functionality patent.  Theoretically, any brand can put their technology in the Michael and Bart Bellon® design by license agreement.

The Chameleon® II’s sexy and sleek design includes a distance between the islands which gives air and space (a place for hair to go) and this helps stabilise the collar placement and helps with contact with the skin. There is no shifting around the neck due to the ergonomic design which has no weighted point.  Necrosis is a thing of the past due to the ability to easily and continuously move the contact points. It is possible to mechanically lower the sensation by doubling or tripling the contact points on every island.  The Chameleon® II also is compatible with the Chameleon® Feather Contact Points, a revolution in contact points where they are flexible and insulated except at the tip.

The CTT® is compatible with :

  • the Martin System Tiny Trainer
  • the Martin System Micro Trainer
  • the Chameleon® I
  • the Chameleon® II
  • the Chameleon® III (bi-directional collar due out in March 2018)

One thing is for certain: between the design and mechanical features of the Chameleon® II and the high technology of the Martin Systems engineering, the Chameleon® II is the most sophisticated collar on the market.

Michael and Bart decided to license the Martin System technology for the Chameleon® because:

  • 869 megahertz radio signal (long range, unique radio signal)
  • Stimulation à Sensation Constante (S.S.C.) stimulation patent (a patented feature from Martin System means stimulation with a consistent sensation. At a designated set level on the transmitter, the lower the resistance, the lower the output; and the higher the resistance, the higher the output to keep the sensation the same) (The S.S.C. patent is also referred to as Constant Stimulation Sensation by English speakers).
  • The Martin System patented contact measurement feature (where the collar indicates if there is contact with the skin of the dog or not)
  • the Martin System patented Finger-Kick ( a bluetooth ring that controls a set button on the transmitter to give you hands free control of the transmitter)
  • the long life of the Martin System batteries
  • The compatibility of the Martin System components with USB Emily which gives the user the ability to customise  to the customer wishes every e-collar in a number of important parameters.

Michael and Bart decided to alter the existing Martin Systems PT3000 transmitter to spruce up the housing and add some design features of the transmitter to give it a tactical robustness and functionality.  The changes are made with tough use in mind. This transmitter should be on the market in the Summer of 2017.

The Chameleon® Tactical Transmitter (CTT®)

The CTT® is a Michael and Bart Bellon® special tactical design with Martin System technology.

  • tough
  • waterproof
  • No stimulation buttons
  • works only with Finger-Kicks (but has a special feature that can be activated to use the program button —what we call the SOS button—as a stimulation button in cases of emergency (if Finger-Kick is lost or out of battery.)
  • no external antennae
  • can run one dog with 4 different pre-set functions with Finger-Kicks, or can run 2 different dogs with 2 different pre-set functions each with Finger-Kicks
  • different ways to fixating the CTT® (on belt/band, with magnet, etc…)
  • induction charging

The CTT® is compatible with :

  • the Martin System Tiny Trainer
  • the Martin System Micro Trainer
  • the Chameleon® I
  • the Chameleon® II
  • the Chameleon® III (bi-directional collar due out in March 2018)

The Chameleon® Extenders

Due in August or September of 2017

The Chameleon® Extenders (a patent owned by Michael and Bart Bellon®) is a Chameleon® collar on which different brands can affix their brick housing at the outside so that users can receive the advantages of a double brick with only a single brick. Users will also be able to move their contact points on single or double or triple islands on each side (the difference between the small, medium or large sizes). The extenders also accommodate the patented (by Michael and Bart Bellon®) Chameleon® Feather contact points (sold separately) which are a must to really make a world of difference in insuring good contact.

Brands that will be compatible with the Chameleon® Extenders are:

  • Martin System receivers (the TT collar and the micro collar)
  • Garmin
  • Dogtra
  • Sportdog
  • Sit Means Sit collar
  • Dogtrace
  • E-Collar Technologies

The Chameleon® Pinch/Pull Collar

The Chameleon® pinch/pull collar is a collar (S,M, and L sizes) that is optically a photocopy of the Chameleon® II collar.

  • It is possible to affix pressure contact points at the inside of the collar to make it a pinch collar.
  • It can be used as a pull collar when left smooth on the inside.

The Chameleon® Tactical Transmitter Bi-directional (CTT-B®)

The CTT-B® should be released around March of 2018 and will be the size of a big watch.

The CTT-B® is a Michael and Bart Bellon® special tactical design (backed up by Martin System technology) that will: have a lighted display (pixels) and the transmitter interface will include information from the collar (the Chameleon® III). Namely:

  • Switching on the CTT-B® will switch on the collar receiver (the Chameleon® III). Switching off the CTT-B® will switch off the Chameleon® III collar receiver.
  • The Chameleon® III collar will send the following information to the transmitter
  1. ready to go
  2. contact points make contact with the skin of the dog (yes or no). (For us, this is an Animal Welfare issue.)
  3. out of radio range (yes or no)
  4. temperature of the dog/dog’s environment
  5. battery level of receiver and transmitter
  • The CTT-B® (like the CTT®) will
  1. be fully waterproof
  2. be equipped with induction charging
  3. work only with Finger-Kicks (but has a special feature that can be activated to use the program button as a stimulation button in cases of emergency (if Finger-Kick is lost or out of battery)
  4. have no external antennae
  5. have many different fixation possibilities
  6. 500 meter range

The CTT-B® will be compatible with the following collar receivers:

the Martin System Tiny Trainer
the Martin System Micro Trainer
the Chameleon® I
the Chameleon® II
the Chameleon® III (bi-directional collar due out in March 2018)

The bi-directional functionality will only work with the Chameleon® III.

The Chameleon® III

The Chameleon® III is due to be released in March of 2018.

The Chameleon® III is patented by Michael and Bart Bellon®.

The Chameleon® III is a bi-directional collar that will send the following information to the transmitter (the CTT-B):

    • ready to go
    • contact points make contact with the skin of the dog (yes or no)
    • out of radio range (yes or no)
    • temperature of the dog/dog’s environment
    • battery level of receiver and transmitter

The Chameleon® III will be a virtual photocopy of the Chameleon® II.  Like its predecessor, the Chameleon® III will be waterproof with induction charging and will come in Single and Double Contact sizes.
